As a Team Manager within our Vegetation Management division (Fountains), it will be your role to develop and maintain the highest standards of operational service delivery whilst maximising growth potential. Through your team, you will be delivering excellent standards of safety, compliance and customer satisfaction, along with meeting agreed financial and production targets.

The Team Manager will also manage the consent, production and audit processes, using both internal and subcontracted staff, when appropriate.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Generating Vegetation Management work through consent and taking responsibility for the work teams & contractors on a daily basis, ensuring that they are managed, organised and motivated to deliver productive operations to excellent standards of safety & compliance, on time and to customer satisfaction
  • Ensuring operations are delivered within agreed budget and that planned outputs/productivity delivery is reported accurately
  • Managing the operations; duties to include management of availability, utilisation, effectiveness and productivity, audit rejections and span management for the team
  • Maintaining excellent customer relationships with a constructive and proactive communication style
  • Completing both OCS and subcontract staff span audits to ensure practises, processes and standards are correctly applied. By exception there may be the need to complete site consent activity
  • Implementing close out actions from internal and external audits
  • Making recommendations on cost benefits/improvement and ensuring strict adherence to company authority limits
  • Planning and delivering to agreed programmes in accordance with the contract and contract operating plan to ensure the correct standards and specifications are achieved
  • Promoting and demonstrating strong leadership in all areas and being responsible for continuous personal development for yourself and the team
  • Recruiting, mentoring and performance managing staff in conjunction with the Service Manager
  • Ensuring purchase orders are issued prior to contracts being undertaken and the delivery of the contract checked and invoices signed off in a timely manner
  • Ensuring inside 5.3 spans, grantor issues, paperwork returns and outage requests are managed in accordance with the Contract Operating Plan
  • Managing subcontractors proactively ensuring value for money and ensuring 100% compliance with the contract training matrix and OCS safety policy and culture
  • Appropriately planning and delivering additional work profitably (having first agreed additional cost with client) and in accordance with contractual requirements- ensuring scheduled work does not fall behind as a result and is “right first time”

Experience required:

Education/Qualifications

  • Good standard of education
  • Computer literacy/administrative skills (MS Word & Excel/report writing)
  • UA1 qualification or higher (preferred)
  • Arboriculture/Forestry diploma (or equivalent) - desirable
  • IOSH (preferred)
