We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager to deliver a proactive, professional, robust and efficient HR service within our Aviation & Gateways business sector, which consists of approximately 1700 employees. This will be in conjunction with supporting the HR Business Partner in delivering the overall people strategy, focusing on value added activity, quality and high standards.

As the HR Manager, you will translate and interpret company policies and procedures in order to provide appropriate and credible guidance/assistance when required across the HR remit in line with the best in class HR practice. This will involve coaching and assisting line management to interpret and apply employment legislation and company policies relating to people and performance management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing an effective HR service to the assigned operational business units as well as ensuring a smooth generalist HR service is maintained
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the operational teams and other areas of the business as appropriate to ensure that the people strategies support the delivery of the organisation’s profit budget and achievement of the People Strategy objectives
  • Driving an engaging people agenda in a fast paced commercial environment
  • Working closely with the senior management team to prioritise and implement changes that will deliver improvements
  • Liaising with the trade union(s) across all sites and leading the pay negotiation meetings where applicable. Actively participating and leading the quarterly trade union meetings with various operational leads
  • Ensuring that all TUPE transfers allocated to you are managed in an effective manner and to timelines that meet our legal obligations
  • Working closely with the relevant operations directors in order to meet assigned business targets
  • Ensuring compliance to standards across all areas of responsibility. Delivering and designing HR training workshops
  • Supporting the design and delivery of people management skills development programmes
  • Leading on agreed HR projects that will benefit the wider organisation
  • Undertaking any ad hoc duties (within remit) as may be required from time to time depending on the needs of the business

Experience required:

Education/Qualifications

  • CIPD qualification (Level 7) or working towards MCIPD
  • Good general education to Level 6 – i.e., Degree level

Working experience/Personal attributes

  • Substantial hands-on operational HR experience
  • Experience in a field-based, multi-site HR role
  • Excellent knowledge and commercial application of employment law
  • Experience within the Aviation sector is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of multi-service contracts industry is preferred
  • Strong networker and clear communicator to ensure full understanding and communication of relevant policies and procedures
  • Highly credible and influential with operational senior management
  • Sound knowledge of service delivery (internal and external customers)
  • Demonstrable understanding and resolve to reduce staff “churn” within the business
  • Ability and application of TUPE mobilisations and de-mobilisations
  • Sound ER experience and ability to work with recognised Trade Unions & in a regulated environment
  • Must be a skilled ‘solution provider’ in a tough competitive marketplace
  • Sound understanding of how to develop, coach and influence operational teams
  • Good organisational and time management skills
