We are looking for a M&E Engineer, a qualified working tradesperson to lead and supervise M&E maintenance team situated at Herts & Essex Hospital.

Main Duties:

  • Direct day to day supervision of multi-discipline M&E Maintenance/tea
  • Daily decisions on planning, prioritising, allocation and organising the M&E and building Maintenance to complete planned and reactive work orders within service level agreements
  • Coordinator emergency responses utilising M&E Maintenance Team and contract support as necessary
  • Inclusion on the emergency call out rota for out of hours emergencies
  • To personally complete a proportion of the reactive and planned work in support of the team as necessary and as instructed by the Senior Facilities Manager
  • Develop a personal knowledge and understanding of the M&E and building fabric Infrastructure, systems, and assets. Advise and make provisions to ensure the health and safety of staff and visitors are not affected by maintenance or installation works.
  • Monitor and control plant performance and environmental conditions ensuring a sustainable workplace using the Building Management System.
  • Daily monitor of the Estates CAFM (Concept Evolution V5) system to ensure both Planned and Reactive tasks are completed on time.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal protective equipment, working at height and confined space access equipment is provided in good condition and used correctly for work as necessary. Carry out routine inspections and follow up on necessary corrective actions
  • Coordinator emergency responses utilising M&E Maintenance Team and contract support as necessary.
  • Carry out physical M&E maintenance tasks including manual handling, working at heights, outside working sometimes in inclement weather, working off scaffolds, ladders and mobile platforms, working in confined spaces.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • C&G/NVQ Inspection and testing
  • 18th Edition
  • HV qualified
  • The position would ideally suit an established electrical engineer with Mechanical experience. Working in a similar healthcare role for at least 5 years.
  • Water systems knowledge
  • Experience issuing permits
  • Previous experience working with Health Technical Memoranda (HTM)
  • Strongly knowledge of M&E services
