Hands on team leader responsible for the day to day cleaning activities and leading a team of Operatives to achieve standard and client expectations.

Health & Safety Purpose: To take a direct responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, your subordinates and others who may be affected by your work activities

Specific Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for maintaining a storage of equipment that maximises the movement of equipment in an efficient and productive manner without service failures.
  • To monitor resource levels for the Team so that planned absence is monitored and controlled efficiently without an adverse affect on the operation.
  • To ensure that all equipment meets safety expectations and certification, where applicable, including fork lifts, pallet trucks, cages, pallets, stillages, shelving and racking.
  • To ensure that all operators of material handling equipment perform an equipment defect check according to the agreed schedule.
  • To understand all risk assessments and Safe Operating Procedures and ensure that all operatives comply with them.
  • To maintain the loading yard areas in a safe and tidy manner which is clear of rubbish and obstacles and any external storage is in a designated area only.
  • To ensure that cleaning check sheets are completed accurately and records are maintained
  • To motivate the team so that performance targets are exceeded and they are involved in continuous improvement process.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and controlling the shift working patterns so that the right amount of staff are attending work in line with their roster.
  • To ensure that team members conduct themselves responsibly consistent with company policy and where necessary deal with any deviation in a fair and consistent manner.
  • To carry out appraisal and performance reviews with team members and identify any development needs with appropriate action plans put in place.
  • To monitor and control the allocation of holiday requests always ensuring sufficient people are on site and that the procedures followed are in line with OCS policy.
  • To ensure strict compliance with all security processes, and vehicles and restricted access to secure working areas.

Experience / Desired & Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ or equivalent in a logistics or production discipline is desirable
  • A natural motivator of people who instils drive and commitment within teams
  • Work very effectively in a fast moving pressurised environment
  • Passion for continuous improvement and attention detail
  • A detailed and structured approach to work
  • Able to converse confidently with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to problem solve in an innovative and flexible manner
