We are looking for a Part-Time Caretaker to work within the facilities team to undertake general caretaking and handyperson duties in CHP premises, undertaking tasks in line with company policies and procedures and to ensure the completion of caretaking duties in a timely and efficient manner.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure that the buildings are well maintained, i.e. heating, lighting, ventilation and fire alarms are operational, reporting any potential hazards or required repairs using appropriate helpdesk and ensure that all corridors, stairs, stairwells and fire exit doors are kept free from obstructions.
  • Undertake a range of general cleaning duties including changing clinical curtains.
  • Ensure that grounds, pathways, car parks, bin compound and entrances are clean and tidy and well maintained; excluding moving snow, light gritting in the winter months.
  • Ensure the use of machinery, equipment and materials complies with manufacturer’s instructions, legal requirements and local procedures and that it is maintained and cleaned to the highest standards dismantling and assembling equipment as necessary.
  • Hazards or required repairs using designated procedure and ensure that all corridors, stairs, stairwells and fire exit doors are kept free from obstructions.
  • Preparation of rooms for clinics and meetings; moving/transporting furniture and equipment within premises (only light equipment like chairs and small tables)
  • Ensure the correct collection, transportation and storage of all waste items in line with company policy including tagging and signing big bins in the bin compound.
  • To respond to any cleaning emergency outside of domestic services working hours such as general spillages, hazardous spillages in public areas.
  • Ensure that work is undertaken in a timely manner and that appropriate records are updated
  • through the requisite system: legionella/water flushing.
  • Ensure that all stores including cleaning store rooms are keep clean and tidy.
  • Check communication book and communicate with receptionist regarding any tasks that need
  • attention.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Experience of caretaking duties, cleaning duties or similar.
  • Knowledge of H&S policies, COSHH, manual handling, basic cleaning tasks.
  • To be able to travel between sites to cover as when necessary and requested by line manager.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and complete tasks requested by line managers.
