Reporting to the Portering Team Leader. Taking responsibility for the waste movement within the hospital, delivering excellent Customer Service by ensuring all requests from users within the Royal Papworth Hospital are executed in a timely, accurate and professional manner all within the agreed service level requirements.

 

Main Duties:

  • Movement of general and recycling waste from chute rooms to waste compound.
  • Movement of clinical waste from chute rooms to waste compound.
  • Tagging of clinical waste ensuring it goes through the correct service stream.
  • Safe use of waste and carboard compactors.
  • Using the app provided to ensure the start and completion of tasks within the service specification time.
  • Promoting and sharing best practices.

 

 

Health & Safety accountabilities:

  • Communicate regularly with colleagues through formal and informal channels on safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and that morale remains high.
  • Ensure that the OCS safety image is reflected positively through your actions and those of your colleagues.
  • Ensure that personal H&S competence and skill level is maintained i.e. attended Managing Safety programme and other Company safety events.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that plant and equipment is maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure that work activities are properly managed and supervised.

 

 

Critical Performance Measures (CPMs) / Objectives:

  • Ensure all waste chutes are clear of waste at all times
  • Following the schedule to ensure a safe working environment
  • Keeping the yard clean and tidy at all times
  • Ensuring waste stream is segregated correctly and any non-conformities reported to line manager
  • Tagging of clinical waste using the correct tagging system
