Shift Pattern 4 days on 2 days off (4 early shifts, 2 days off followed by 4 late shifts, 2 days off)

Pay Rate £34,848 per annum (could go up to £36,000 per annum, subject to completion of probation period and vetting)

To lead, manage, and continually develop the production teams. To ensure all business objectives, customer requirements and daily supply targets are achieved. To exceed customer and business expectations for supply of products, including delivery, quality, security, and quantity requirements. To work closely with the engineering, fleet, and logistics teams, to continuously improve overall site effectiveness. Ensuring utilisation of production facilities, people development, and a lean culture. To comply with Health and Safety, Environmental, Transport/Aviation personnel and security policies and processes.

Main Duties, Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 

Brief the assistant manager on priority products

Manage stock level (identify stock shortages, ensure stock controller is aware)

To fulfil customers’ requirements within the required timeframe and in accordance with the received schedule and specifications. Liaise with operational customers (DHL, Do & Co, ABM, Newrest, Gatwick Ground Services)

Manage resource shortfalls and plan accordingly (to the specifications outlined in a client’s contract)

Liaise with logistics and despatch

To ensure strict compliance with all security processes as required by the Civil Aviation Authority and the site security programme

To carry out Job Chats, performance and daily target reviews for the assistant managers and identify any development or operational needs with appropriate action plans put in place. Lead the daily production and huddle meetings. Lead disciplinary investigations and hearings

Resolve any escalated issues, Report accidents, near misses and carry out investigations

Work parallel with the engineering department, to ensure that all machinery is utilised optimally

To generate and analyse reports/KPI’s and make recommendations on trends, improvements and corrective actions. To achieve and enhance operational excellence and to share best practice with other Shift Managers

To ensure all staff are appropriately trained and qualified for performing specific tasks

To ensure that any equipment that does not meet the safety expectations and certifications is reported to the Compliance Manager

To comply with internal and external policies and processes for Health & Safety, quality, environmental, Transport/Aviation personnel and security

To implement Attendance Improvement Processes where necessary

Health & Safety

Communicate regularly with staff through formal and informal channels on safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and that morale remains high.

Ensure that the OCS safety image is reflected positively through your actions and those of your subordinates, ensuring that they are properly trained to competently carry out their duties and responsibilities as well as ensuring that they acknowledge and accept a  personal responsibility for safety.

To take responsibility for ensuring that a safe system of work is produced and communicated to employees (subordinates) prior to commencement of the work activity.

Take responsibility for ensuring that plant, equipment, and the workplace environment is maintained and fit for purpose, positively promoting the faults within the zone area.

Undertake regular site and service inspections and audit all working equipment and sluice rooms and identify areas of non-compliance to Health & Safety and Quality Standards and take actions where required daily.

Manage the safety performance of all Personnel and sub-contractors and take appropriate action for any breaches.

Always follow OCS Group and company policies and procedures.

Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.

Use all work equipment and PPE properly and in accordance with training receive. Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.

Background & Skills

Operational management experience of a similar size, service, and complexity.

Strong relationship building and influencing skills.

Technical expertise in laundry, production, warehousing, distribution, or logistics is desirable.

Demonstrates drive and resilience. Open and innovative when working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Decisive and collaborative in equal measures.

Personal Characteristics/ Attributes for the role

Full UK Driving Licence - desirable
